BASW England echoes the Children’s Commissioner’s pledge for a significant investment in children’s services, which is critical at a time when the coronavirus is deemed the greatest threat to children since World War II.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government has announced measures which aim to protect individuals’ right to life (Article 2 ECHR) and further steps will need to be taken over the coming days, weeks and months.
At the 2019 BASW UK Conference and AGM a Motion was passed that BASW endorsed the association to focus on human rights practice, and to work with partners in this area.
BASW is appalled to learn that women with learning disabilities and mental health needs were abused in a learning disability hospital, and we condemn the actions of the staff involved.
