Lessons Learned – Development of Statutory Task Placements in Health-based Social Work | BASW England Social Work in Health Forum
This session will explore some of the challenges facing the sector in accessing Social Work Apprenticeships, focusing on the provision of ‘statutory task social work placements’ (often referred to as ‘Final’ placements), meeting the requirements of Social Work England. Lessons learned will be shared on the successful application of innovative approaches to widening access to Social Work Degree Apprenticeships, delivered at the University of Hertfordshire. Information will be provided on:
- The benefits of creating Statutory Task placements to the NHS, independent and private sector employers providing social work in health services, in improving workforce stability, recruitment and retention.
- The role of effective quality assurance systems to support the growth of Social Work Apprenticeships in health agencies.
- The application of SWE Practice Placement Guidance and Education Standards to the creation and management of effective learning environments in a range of health services providing social work.
- The links between Final Year placements and the creation of Social Work Apprenticeships and ASYE Programmes
