BASW England is consulting with members on the proposals within the Health and Care Bill and the implications for social work. The Health and Care Bill was debated for the first time in Parliament on 14th July 2021 and BASW England has been following developments closely. The proposed changes will impact upon social workers working in and across social care and health.
This BASW England position statement has been formulated based on the feedback of members, social work academics, practitioners, managers, and students.
Last month BASW England surveyed its members on the key questions taken from the government’s public survey, with a focus on those that were of most relevance to social workers

The guide was developed in collaboration with valued stakeholders including Women’s Aid, Galop, Southall Black Sisters, Sign Health, Karma Nirvana, Respect, AVA, Ann Craft Trust, Dr Michaela Rogers at the University of Sheffield, as well as people with lived experience and BASW members.
