BASW NI has briefed the Northern Ireland Assembly Education Committee calling for up-to-date guidance aimed at minimising the use of restraint and preventing the use of seclusion for children with additional needs in educational settings.
BASW has been concerned that private companies would be carrying out interviews with those who were seeking asylum and were or claimed to be under 18, without appropriate expertise or staff.
There are calls from across Parliament to recognise that people living in care and health settings need to see their loved ones through family member and social worker visits.
