Fostering Support Group
The idea for this group has organically grown from the BASW Independent Social Worker online FaceBook group, where people have been reaching out within the forum to share information, seek advice and guidance. Showing the need for a platform to discuss the positives and the issues impacting the fostering world. The responses have been very heartfelt and demonstrate the necessity of having a community support group, with a common theme of fostering assessments and the evolution of this work.
A place to express experiences and reflections. The fostering world, including all who work within this field, needs more attention and recognition. This member-led Fostering Support Group will help to bring about a community of assessors/workers from all walks of life. Who knows what ideas may transpire!
Meeting dates will all be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 10:30am - 12pm

BASW Independents Networks provide an opportunity to create and nurture professional links with other self-employed social workers in your region. For 2025, these informal meetings will be fully member-led and supported centrally by BASW with the opportunity to collaborate on wider activities.
Feel free to bring discussion items. The group is welcome to have discussions flow fluidly or to lead a more structured meeting with a nominated chair and agenda items.
Networks are hosted virtually across the UK with all BASW Independents* members welcome to register and attend any sessions regardless of location.
*Current members that subscribe to the Independents Basic or Plus package. Members in a general working category are also welcome to attend.
